“Inspirations”: an art exhibition by Argie Agelarakis at the Consulate General of Greece in New York

Tuesday, 05 November 2019

Bringing the summer breeze amidst New York’s Fall season, the Consulate General of Greece in New York opened the retrospective art exhibition by Argie Agelarakis "Inspirations: The blue of the Aegean, the rhythm of the winds, dreams, experience, hopes, desires". The exhibition opened on October 31st and will run until November 14th, at the Consulate General of Greece in New York.

The beauty of the purest forms found in our natural environment, particularly the sea, stimulates the artist's creativity. Using a wide range of media, she creates abstract or surreal works, aiming to convey rhythm or harmony of color and form. The intention is to entice the viewers by making them feel provoked, inspired stimulated, and or informed.

Argie Agelarakis is a Greek-American artist living in New York City and Crete, Greece. She earned her BFA at The School of Visual Arts and her MA at Adelphi University, and is a part-time Faculty member (at both Universities). Drawing from her experience in the fields of archaeology, anthropology, and art, she teaches courses in technical drawing, scientific illustration as well as classes which explore the relationship of art and science.
