Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to participate in the proceedings of the High-Level Week of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly (New York, 21 to 27 September 2019)

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will accompany the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who will head the Greek Delegation during the High-Level Week of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

On Monday, 23 September, Mr Dendias will attend the Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, where he will have the opportunity to set out Greece’s positions on issues of European, regional and global interest.

On Tuesday, 24 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will host the Quadrilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania at the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations, and will attend the EU High-Level Event on Syria.

On Wednesday, 25 September, the Ministerial Meeting of the member states of the Ancient Civilisations Forum (ACForum) will convene for the third consecutive year and the Minister of Foreign Affairs will subsequently attend the second Trilateral Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Armenia. He will then represent our country at the Transatlantic Dinner hosted by the US Secretary of State, M. Pompeo.

On Thursday, 26 September, N. Dendias will host an informal working breakfast for the member states of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Chairmanship of which Greece took over on 01 July 2019.

On Friday, 27 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will host this year’s Trilateral Meeting of Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, with discussions to focus on promoting security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On the margins of the proceedings of the Ministerial Week, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will attend numerous bilateral meetings with, among others, his counterparts from China, Cyprus, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Norway and Brazil.

The Minister’s itinerary in New York will conclude with attending the speech of the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, before the UN General Assembly Plenary Meeting.
