On May 4, an event was held with particular success at the residence of the Greek Consul in New York for the presentation of the role of education as a factor in achieving development in Greece, as well as the US-Greece educational ties, on the occasion of the celebration of the centennial presence in Greece of the American College of Greece-ACG.
During his greeting, the Consul General of Greece in New York, Mr. Dinos Constantinou, emphasized that despite the difficulties and economic consequences of the pandemic and the inflation due to the war in Ukraine, the Greek economy proved to be resilient, Greece now has the highest growth within the EU,with the result that, large foreign investors, such as Pfizer and Microsoft, discovering the existence of a favorable and safe business environment,they proceed to invest in Greece. He also mentioned the importance of supporting young professionals who are the cornerstone for the sustainability of the economy and society as well as the rapid digitization of services in Greece.
Emphasizing that both the USA and Greece have made education their top priority, Mr. Konstantinou mentioned that many bilateral collaborations have been implemented in the field of education and in these ACG has played a catalytic role, as a long-term pioneer College with quality programs. ACG all these years offered its graduates unlimited opportunities and created the conditions for a smooth transition into the competitive world of the market, where success depends on quality and innovative educational programs. ACG's goal is to attract American and Greek-American students to Greece.
Afterwards, ACG President David G. Horner presented a three-minute video about ACG's programs, infrastructure and activities in Greece and described its achievements and priorities, as well as the comparative advantage of studying in Greece for American students.
Finally, the President of Libra Group, George Logothetis, referred to the international internship program for selected students, which the Libra Group has created in collaboration with the American College of Greece, Deree and the Greek America Foundation. He also presented three successful stories of students who benefited from this program.
The event closed with a presentation and tasting of organic wines from the Zafiraki estate.
