Dear Friends,

Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Greece in Washington, D.C.

Our aim in this user-friendly site is to provide you with up to date information regarding the activities of our Embassy and its Consular Missions throughout the United States, to inform you on the state of our bilateral relations, and keep you abreast of current developments in Greece regarding its economy, its government and its people. Through this site, you will also be given access to information and links that will enrich your knowledge of Greek history, culture and traditions.

It is has been an honor and a privilege to serve as Greece’s Ambassador to the United States since June 2009. 

During this time, I have worked, along with the Embassy staff and the Consular Missions around the United States, to enhance the longstanding friendship between the Greek and American people, who share the ideals of the democratic rule of law, freedom, equality and respect for human rights. 

Along with the entire world, both our countries face challenges, which also belie great opportunities, and I look forward to working with the American people and their leadership to enhance those opportunities and further strengthen our strategic partnership.

During my tenure here, I have also had the privilege to come to know the strong community of Americans of Greek origin, a community whose members have made the best of the opportunities offered them, becoming successful and productive members of American society, while cherishing and nurturing their Hellenic heritage and traditions.

Those of you who visit our site, students, travellers, business people, academics, friends of Greece, or simply people eager to learn about new countries and cultures, please, feel free to share with us your thoughts, remarks and recommendations, as we aim to make this site relevant to your interests and needs
