Draft evaders living abroad Greece: Certificate of stay for military use
The certificate of stay for military use is issued in case that you live abroad Greece, and you do not meet the criteria for a certificate of permanent resident abroad Greece, nor for a military exemption or postponement.
The certificate of stay is a necessary supporting document for the issuance of the certificate of draft evader abroad Greece. With the certificate of draft evader abroad Greece, you can:
a. travel to Greece for a period which does not exceed thirty (30) days totally within a calendar year
b. if used within six months of its issuance date, issue/renew your Greek passport
Prerequisites: You should live abroad Greece the last six (6) months at least. Your request can be submitted only after the elapse of the enlistment day indicated on your conscription note.
Supporting documents:
1. Application for the issuance of a certificate of permanent resident abroad Greece for military use by the Consular Authority, and Application for the Conscription Service to grant the postponement of military conscription.
2. Photocopies of all pages of your passports (Greek, American or other), even those expired, regarding the last six months at least.
3. If during the last six months you were a student abroad Greece, official transcripts from High School, College, University etc.
4. If during your stay abroad Greece you were working, you must provide the most recent W2 form.
5. Bank statements which are under your name that show the last six months transactions, or forms of any utility bills of the last six months (you can print them out from the internet).
6. Any other document you deem as a proof of stay abroad Greece, during the last six months, such as an employer attestation, a lease agreement, bills of fixed line etc.
7. Cost of the Consular Official: €50. The consular bill is paid in cash in US dollars, or money order in consultation with the respective Consular Authority. Check the euro/dollar exchange rate on our website:

The certificate of stay is issued by the competent Consular Authority and it is sent officially to the competent Conscription Service that issues the certificate of draft evader abroad Greece. You will receive the certificate of draft evader abroad Greece electronically.
