Ambassador Panagopoulos participated in the commemoration ceremony for the tragedy of the Greek Jews during WWII (Washington DC, 10/25/2012)
Ambassador Panagopoulos participated in the commemoration ceremony organized by the “OXI DAY Foundation” and co-hosted by the American Jewish Committee for the tragedy of the Greek Jews during WWII, along with His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America and the AJC Director for International Relations, Mr. Jason Isaacson.
Ambassador Panagopoulos underscored that the Nazi occupation of Greece resulted in a decrease of about 10% of Greece’s population. Among them 67.000 Greek Jews, or 86% of the Jews of Greece, were perished in the death concentration camps. “The Holocaust of Martyrs and Heroes should never be forgotten”.
The ceremony took place in the Historic Synagogue (Washington DC, 10/25/2012).
