Countdown to Human Rights Day: 3-Freedom of Expression Online and Offline

Respect for human rights is one of the European Union’s core values, and the principle is embedded in its policies — at home and abroad: “Human rights will be one of my overarching priorities and I intend to use them as a compass in all my relations within EU institutions, as well as with third countries, international organizations and civil society,” said High Representative/ Vice President Federica Mogherini during her European Parliament hearings in October, 2014.


In anticipation of Human Rights Day on December 10, the EU Delegation in the U.S. is organizing an awareness campaign about EU’s guidelines on different human rights. Each day, starting on December 1, we will provide an insight into one feature of EU’s human rights policy. The campaign is inspired by Human Rights 365, the UN topic for Human Rights Day 2014.
