Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Fragogiannis to participate in the conference on ‘Southeast Europe & East Med: New strategies, New perspectives’ (Washington, 18-19 November 2019)
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy, Kostas Fragogiannis, will participate in the high-level meeting on ‘Southeast Europe & East Med: New strategies, New perspectives’, which is taking place in Washington on 18 and 19 November. The event, co-hosted by the ‘Delphi Economic Forum’ and ‘Kathimerini’, will be attended by the following U.S. officials: Wilbur L. Ross, the Secretary of Commerce, Francis R. Fannon, Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Philip T. Reeker, Acting Assistant Secretary of European and Eurasian Affairs, Eleni Kounalakis, Lieutenant Governor of California, and Chris Van Hollen, Senator from Maryland.
The conference at which Mr. Fragogiannis will deliver a keynote address on “Greece, a pillar of stability in the Southeast Mediterranean region”, will also be attended by ministers, government officials and a number of entrepreneurs. The speakers include Adonis-Spyridon Georgiadis, Minister of Development and Investments, Harry Theoharis, Minister of Tourism, George Koumoutsakos, Alternate Minister of Civil Protection, Christos Dimas, Deputy Minister of Research and Technology, and Antonis Diamataris, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Diaspora Greeks.
The topic areas will include energy security, economy and growth, with the aim of deepening relations and developing synergies between the U.S. and the countries of Southeast Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, with emphasis on Greece.
On the margins of the conference, Deputy Minister Fragogiannis will have one-on-one meetings with U.S. officials.
