Foreign Ministry announcement on the first anniversary of the formation of the Alliance against the jihadist organization ISIS

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the formation of the Alliance against the jihadist organization ISIS, Greece reiterates its dedication to the struggle against ISIS, as well as its support for the international efforts toward a political resolution of the Syrian problem, which has led to the destabilization of the Middle East and, at the same time, created a vast refugee and migration wave.

Tomorrow’s Summit Meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly, on the issue of combating ISIS and violent extremism, will be an opportunity to further coordinate the actions of the international community and all of the states of the Alliance towards the effective confrontation of ISIS, which will, in turn, assist in the resolution of the Syrian problem and the stabilization of the wider region.
