Synopsis
Niko is an average guy with no ambitions, living in rural Greece. His father’s sudden death reunites him with his uncle, who invites him to live and work at his house on the outskirts of Athens. Not having much to lose, Niko takes his chances, accepting his uncle’s offer. He takes on the job of protecting his uncle’s purebred dogs from the hostile neighbors. Driven by envy, lust and anger, Niko descends into a vicious circle of perpetual antagonism, the struggle for power over others and discontent.
About the director
Yannis Economides was born in Limassol, Cyprus, in 1967 and studied film in Athens. He has directed several short films and documentaries. He made his feature film debut in 2003 with the film “Matchbox”. “Soul Kicking”, his second feature, has participated in the International Critics’ Week/Cannes 2006. “Knifer” is his third feature.
