This exhibition aims to bring Greece alive for visitors, taking them through aspects of the country they may have rarely been exposed to. In addition to the beautiful and internationally renowned island beaches and archaeological sites of Athens, in this exhibition, you will discover two-million-year-old caves, the oldest castle in Europe, mountain villages and alpine rivers, Venetian fortresses, as well as the pristine Acheron River, known in mythology as the entrance to the underworld.
Joanna Kalafatis is a travel writer and actress, who has lived in Athens, New York, and Los Angeles, having received a B.A. in Economics from Barnard College. She recently published the travel guide “Best of Greece” for Moon Travel Guides, aiming to take readers through the Greek mainland. Her work has also appeared in Time Out New York, Business Insider, Greek Reporter, and other publications. Joanna wants to share her love of her homeland with a wide audience, showing people sides of Greece they may not often see in mass media. She also wants to ensure that her work helps preserve local cultures and benefit local businesses, instead of driving them out. That is why over 96% of the properties featured in her travel guide are boutique, locally owned and often family-owned, businesses.
