Signing of three Greek-Vietnamese cooperation agreements within the framework of the President’s state visit to Vietnam
Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Petros Doukas signed three Greek-Vietnamese bilateral cooperation agreements today in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the presence of the Presidents of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet.
Specifically, Mr. Doukas and the Vietnamese Deputy Minister for Planning and Investment, Mr. Nguyen Bich, signed an Agreement on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments, aimed at implementing the framework for promoting and protecting investments and further deepening the economic cooperation between the two countries, to their mutual benefit.
Mr. Doukas and his Vietnamese counterpart Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. This agreement initiates ongoing consultations between the two ministries, exchange of information, and cooperation within the framework of international organizations.
Finally, Mr. Doukas and the Vietnamese Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Bien, signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the energy sector, aimed at the promotion of investments and the creation of joint ventures, etc., in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation vis-à-vis new energy sources, with particular emphasis on renewable energy sources.
Mr. Doukas praised the progress being made in Vietnam’s economy, stating that “we have already turned a new page in our economic relations. There is great potential in the sectors of agricultural product processing, fish farming, construction materials, tourism and ship-building, while the INTRALOT agreements with the Ho Chi Minh municipality are of particular importance. “
